The
Project
Management Institute (PMI) administers the Project
Management Professional (PMP) Certification exam. This
certification program was developed to prove one’s ability to manage
projects.
This
course fulfills the PMP eligibility requirement of 35 hours Project
Management Education. The other requirements are 4,500 hours of Project
Management experience and a Bachelor’s Degree.
The
objective of this course is to guide participants in studying and
successfully passing the examination. In order to pass the PMP exam you
must correctly answer 131 of the 200 multiple-choice questions in a
4-hour period. The course will
also assist participants in signing up for the PMP exam.
On
the basis of data released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis of the
U.S. Department of Commerce, the Project Management Institute (PMI®)
estimates that the U.S. public and private sectors spend some $2.3
trillion on projects every year, an amount equivalent to one-quarter of
the nation's gross domestic product. Extrapolating U.S. data, PMI
estimates that the world as a whole spends nearly $10 trillion of the
world's $40.7 trillion gross product on projects of all kinds.
BENEFITS OF CERTIFICATION
Expand Competence
Managing
projects successfully is increasingly complex. Projects are more
integrated, employ multi-discipline teams, share resources and cross
organizational boundaries. Certification addresses these requirements.
Professionalism
PMP® certification demonstrates a
personal commitment to your profession. It integrates your thinking and
creates awareness in the technical and interpersonal dimensions of
managing projects.
Corporate Support PMP®
Many companies recognize the value of PMP® Certification and
have adopted it on a company-wide basis. Prestigious organizations such as
IBM, AT&T, ABB, Bechtel, Lucent Technologies, NCR, Sun Microsystems,
HP, US West, Kaizer Engineering, Citibank, Canadian Dept of Defense,
Korean Electricity Power Corporation and others.
