Course Description

This course is for managers with at least five years of management experience. This course provides experienced managers with an opportunity to take an introspective look at who they are, to explore where they are going in their life and career, and to learn how to find deeper meaning and satisfaction in their lives. This workshop will help managers assess their current career paths, leadership style, communication patterns in a diverse workplace, and mentoring and motivating skills with the latest application of current management practices supported by theory and research. Managers will practice new knowledge and skills in an experiential and fun learning environment.

Skills and Competencies

At the conclusion of the Workshop, the participant will be able to:

·         Take a constructive look at your career and assess your goals and direction

·         Construct a life plan with personal and professional objectives to guide your  management career

·         Recognize the differences in communication in a divers workforce and be able to communicate more effectively using new communication skills

·         Use the approach of facilitative leadership to work with departmental and cross­ functional groups

·         Employ mentoring as an approach to effective employee professional development  and learn how to avoid the mentor trap

·         Use job sculpting as a career development tool to define and create your ideal job

·         Review the best practices of the best companies in motivating employees and learn how to use these techniques in your workplace

·         Create a plan to better motivate your direct reports by understanding the needs and wants of your direct reports
